photo*First off, if you live in the New England area and plan to

attend the Rhode Island Comic Con on November 6-8 I will again be in artists alley

alongside my Inkwell Awards. I'll have copies for sale of the first edition to The Black

Panther by Christopher Priest: The Complete Collection but regrettably the second

edition ships the following week and I don't plan to attend another show in quite some

time. I should have at least one copy of The Infinity War Aftermath tpb, too.

2839943-kingstone*Since my last work for Ravesnake Comics ended in

the spring I've been mostly doing commissions. Now it looks like I'll be starting work

for Kingstone Comics this coming week. The publish Christian-based and young adult

adventure comics and graphic novels. They hope to become the 'Marvel' of the faith

market. More on the specifics to come. If I notice a consistent increase in work

frequency I'll mention that the commission list is closed for the immediate future.

Between these developments and a tirade of trades shipping soon this should be an

interesting fall/winter.

*HARTFORD CON: The dates were wrong and an error on my part.  Instead of September 5-6 the Inkwells and myself will be there when it runs September 19-20 so please adjust your calendars and I hope to see you there!

*MAKE MINE BOB ALMOND: Sorry, for those who might've been interested I didn't promote this in advance but I'll be sure to next time. The Make Mine Marvel Facebook group (also this link) scheduled me for a live online FB interview yesterday August 25 at 8pm EST.  It went really well and I was typing non-stop for two and a half hours until it slowed down (not stopped) and I politely pulled out of the fandom festivities!  I  enjoyed the event and queestions and there's talk of me returning in the future. I will keep you posted here. For realz this time;-)

*BLACK PANTHER BY CHRISTOPHER PRIEST: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION (UPDATE): This week I submitted my revised Intro from the Panini Comics reprint in 2003 to the Marvel Collections Dept editorial office (this time to be printed in English instead  of French) as well as an assortment of image files to be considered as bonus features for the 2nd (shipping in 11/11/15 w/ issues 18-35) and 3rd (due the first quarter of 2016 w/ issues 36-49) volumes. Tentatively, the front cover of the third collection will be from BP#48 (painted by Jason Nagasawa) and the back cover will be the Velluto/Almond cover that was originally rejected for our final issue (#49) and later commissioned to completion and used on the 2nd Panini collection front cover. For those interested in reading a recent three part Priest interview you can go here, here, and then here.

From my Facebook wall, my post "Interesting to see that actor Michael Rooker who played Yondu in the Guardians film used this image that Kevin West and I worked on for his banner for convention appearances! It was a pin-up from the one of two GotG annuals that Kevin and I collaborated on circa 1993-94, our first times teamed together. Photo by David Craig."

And also from my Facebook, photo taken by my regular commission client Christophe (Kriss) Palma and his statement "Bob Almond is well represented on my wall."  All but the 2nd from the left was inked by me.  This also does not include smaller commissions like a Yellowjacket by Mike McKone or Punisher commissions by Rene Micheletti and by Thomas Frisano.

I'll be attending the Connecticut Comiconn at Mohegan Sun for the first time this year (August 14-16) as they'll be supporting the non-profit Inkwell Awards who will be set up there along with our spokesmodel Ms. Inkwells doing meet & greets @ the Mohegan Sun Convention Center in Uncasville, CT.

(Yes, I'll be attending the Heroes Con earlier June 19-21 but they haven't added me/us to the list yet at their website.)

A Huge Status Change (or Bring on the Commissions & Offers!) Print E-mail
Written by Bob Almond
Friday, 20 March 2015 16:30

It's been fairly evident that I've been 2015's bitch with all of the health issues, internal Inkwell turmoil, the loss of Norman Lee, and recently a summons for me to appear for Federal jury duty for two weeks next month in Boston. This has caused me to lose irretrievable time in the work schedule of my new assignment and this week these Acts of God lead to that project being cancelled. So I am opening up my commission list a LOT sooner than expected and already contacted my regular clients as well as three friends who were waiting to offer me small work jobs before the BIG JOB appeared last month. I regret how things turned out, albeit out of my control, but I'm not worried about the future and appreciate those who have already reached out to lean me a hand of support and work.
